Who Should Take This Class?

This combo course is designed for healthcare professionals who need certification in both Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS). It is ideal for those who participate in or lead the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and cardiovascular emergencies, as well as first responders and clinical staff involved in direct patient care.

Important Registration Information

  • You must use your own personal email and cellphone number when registering. This is required to receive and claim your AHA eCards for both BLS and ACLS.
  • Arrive early — instruction begins promptly at the scheduled class time. Late arrivals may not be admitted.
  • Check your confirmation email for payment instructions and additional details.

BLS Provider Content

The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to:

  • Promptly recognize life-threatening emergencies
  • Deliver high-quality chest compressions
  • Provide effective ventilations using a pocket mask and bag-valve mask
  • Utilize an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) early

This course reflects the latest science and guidelines from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

The BLS course includes instructor-led practice in simulated clinical scenarios, skills testing, and a multiple-choice written exam.

ACLS Provider Content

The ACLS course is designed for healthcare providers who manage or respond to cardiovascular emergencies. It emphasizes:

  • Team dynamics and effective communication
  • Immediate post-cardiac arrest care
  • Airway management and related pharmacology
  • Cardiac arrest and acute dysrhythmia management

Students will participate in both large-group and small-group sessions, including scenario-based learning and skills testing. A written exam is required at the end of the course.

Pre-Course Requirement

All students must complete the ACLS pre-course self-assessment and submit it at the beginning of class. This is required for participation.
